About Biblically Brutal

We all know those warm, inspirational Bible verses that are printed on home decor and daily items. Unfortunately, those verses only show one side of Scripture — uplifting, hopeful, and comforting.

Biblically Brutal exists to make God and Scripture feel more relatable — not watered down, not modernized for trend’s sake, but seen as they truly are: honest, emotional, sometimes humorous, and often uncomfortable. The Bible was never meant to be a collection of feel-good quotes. It is full of real people having real reactions to everyday life, and the Almighty God who meets them there.

Scripture contains moments that are surprisingly funny, blunt, sarcastic, and sharp. It also contains verses that cry out in grief, wrestle with doubt, and speak openly about suffering. Biblically Brutal intentionally highlights both. We believe humor can break down walls, invite conversation, and remind us that faith doesn’t have to be stiff or overly polished. Sometimes laughter is the doorway that helps us breathe again.

At the same time, we don’t shy away from the brutally honest verses — the ones that sit with us when life feels heavy. These are the Scriptures that don’t rush toward a happy ending, don’t wrap pain in platitudes, and don’t pretend that following God means life will be easy. They remind us that God is present not only in joy and victory, but in exhaustion, grief, anger, and silence.

Our desire is to reflect the full tone of Scripture — the light moments and the dark ones — so that people can see themselves in God’s Word. We believe humor can be holy.
